Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus PDF Print E-mail

What You Need to Know:
• Mo Willems is a genius. His wit, humorous illustrations and knack for knowing just what kids are thinking in their little
heads makes you wonder if he ever really grew up.
• This picture book would make a great read aloud for a young audience, just not at bedtime as your child will be too
excited to sleep after one reading, this book is just too much fun.
• The Pigeon character is a great send-up of all the children in your life .
Sweet Book Summary:
In this Caldecott Honor installment, the Busdriver needs a break and asks you, the audience, to please “Watch things for him until he gets back and….Don’t let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” The Pigeon then proceeds to beg you to let him drive the bus. He argues, “I’ll be your best friend…How ‘bout I give you five bucks? It’s just a bus!!!!” This elicits all manners of interaction between the Pigeon and your young audience. The children listening to this book get a kick out of being in charge and parents get a kick out of showing kids their own behavior.
