I Stink, is the first volume and it is about the ever idolized Garbage Truck. I am not sure I could count how many times, as a mother to two boys, that I have heard the familiar strains of our garbage truck, and started jumping around and inviting children to the window to watch it work. Upon arriving at the window, both boys have stood rapt watching this episode unfold three times a week, and they never seem to tire of it.
That is why from the minute we received I Stink as a present, it has gotten countless re-readings. The book exuberantly describes the whole trash collecting process in detail and in a very interactive, riddle kind of way. The first line of the book is "Who am I? I've got lights. Ten WIDE tires. No A.C., not me...." and goes on delightfully from there, cleverly talking about all the things a garbage truck eats and how it digests it food (trash). The ABC list of all the gross things that go into it's hopper will captivate. Any young reader interested in all things trucks will love this book! |
